Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She is also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer that has received accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit educational site that explores the representation of women in pop stories of culture - was created and directed by Sarkeesian. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are depicted in pop media. Additionally, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted towards women as well as marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian holds a York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. In addition to being a popular public speaker, she's given speeches at the TEDxWomen The XOXO Conference as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by feminist issues, gender and gender equality at a early time. In 2009, when she was in university she started the Feminist Frequency web site. An ambitious woman who wanted to create a web series that examined the gender representation of video games was targeted in an internet-based campaign. But the harassment did not discourage her. The experience only strengthened her as a journalist who is feminist. Numerous awards have been given to her for all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded several awards and founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational organization that focuses on the ways women are depicted within media narratives.
